"No, it's not… Jay, let me explain."
Before Louise could finish, Jayden turned and came down the stairs. Seeing the fine cuts on me, his brows knit tightly.
"Jay, it's just a few scratches. A couple of days' rest will be enough. Are you really going to abandon me a second time because of her?"
Louise spoke with brazen confidence, her arrogance unshaken.
Jayden didn't respond. His gaze fell on me—my reddened eyes, bowed head, and soft hair.
He didn't spare Louise a single glance. Instead, he scooped me up and carried me toward his bedroom.
"Steve, call my private doctor," Jayden ordered.
Louise gritted her teeth, yelling, "Jay!"
But all she got in response was his retreating back.
Louise stormed out of the villa, but she didn't settle down.
Later, her hoarse, furious questioning over the phone only deepened Jayden's disdain.
Meanwhile, I played the part of the tender, graceful, and fragile lady, and the balance tipped even further in my favor.
