As Edmund stared at the photo on his screen, he felt as though a bucket of ice water had been poured over him. A chill seeped from his head down to his toes. He mulled over Mount Versuval, the proposal, and the suicide. Everything suddenly made sense. No wonder Selena had been so devoted to him. She had chased after him so desperately and did her best to please him. It turned out that she had only seen him as Herman's stand-in from the very beginning. His phone fell to the floor with a loud crash. Claire took one look at him and instantly understood everything. She hadn't expected Selena to mean every word of her declaration of apathy toward Edmund. But so what? She had gone and married him. Now, she had brought death upon herself. With that thought, Claire stepped forward and reached for his hand tearfully. "Edmund, don't be angry. I only did those things because I love you too much. Selena was never worthy of being your wife. Now that she's gone, let's stop fighting and ju
