Chapter 1081
Meanwhile, thousands of miles away, Camille walked into the Moreau mansion expressionlessly, followed by a group of men.
She kicked open a door. Ermione was inside, tied up and thrown in a corner of the room. Her pupils constricted as soon as rays of light beamed into the room, and she flinched a little like a mouse in the gutter.
"You’ve done quite a great job!" Camille’s voice sounded, and it was filled with hints of sarcasm. "I’ve only been away from the Moreaus for a few months, yet I wasn't informed about the change of image that the Moreaus have been undergoing all this while. And now we’re actually in a cooperative relationship with Nathaniel?"
Hearing the coldness in Camille’s tone, Ermione and the others dared not speak, for fear of being the first to get a scolding from Camille.
"Ermione Moreau, I went easy on you by not holding you accountable when you interfered with my life without my authorization and drove Renfrew out of the house. But I didn’t expect you to have such guts to seek cooperation from a fox."
When Ermione, who was the first to be called out, heard what Camille had to say, she could no longer stay put or continue to remain silent. Although her hands and feet were tied, she still struggled and moved in front of Camille. "I know I’ve screwed up! This is all my fault! But Nathaniel has been leading his men from Daybreak around town, extorting money from everyone like a mad dog, and we ran out of ideas. I screwed up!"
When she heard Ermione’s explanation, Camille gave off a contemptuous smirk then kicked her away. What was left on her harmless face was endless indifference. "Stop making excuses. Even an idiot could tell that you planned to use Nathaniel to drive me out of the house. Want a little bit of advice? Don’t go around plotting against others if you don’t have the brain to do it."
Camille had seen through all these people from the Moreaus since long ago, so she could not bother to waste any time and energy to go back and forth with them. She asked her men to drag Ermione and a few of the leaders down and to wait for her next order.
"Ms. Moreau, please don’t be angry." The butler walked up to Camille and sighed. "I didn’t expect Ms. Ermione to be so confused that she’d do something like that, but the most important thing at the moment isn’t Nathaniel Tucker. It's recently come to my attention that two nobles from Leafdelle Island were locked up by Ms. Ermione."
"What?" Camille originally thought that Ermione was doing everything purely out of her ambition, but she did not expect that ambition was all Ermione had, and all that was left was pure stupidity. She hurried to the dungeon located in the Moreaus' mansion with a frown. "If we’ve offended someone from Leafdelle Island, that'll mark the end of the Moreaus."
Although the butler had known that those two people were of great importance, he still could not help but feel surprised when he heard Camille’s serious tone.
He had been serving the Moreaus for so many years, but he had never heard of a place in the world known as Leafdelle Island. The young lady was even treating the two people who came from Leafdelle Island as the honored guests of the Moreaus. Although he did not understand the matters, everything in the Moreau household had always been decided by Camille. The Moreaus had been taking care of these two people all this while.
‘Where exactly is this Leafdelle Island? And what makes it so influential that even the Moreaus have to respect its people to this extent?’
Camille would surely not give him an answer. She strode into the dungeon, letting her men lead the way, and went all the way to the deepest corner of the dungeon, only to see two people she was familiar with.
"Ms. Savatier!" Camille never thought that Ermione would do such an outrageous thing like locking these two in the most miserable water prison. Shocked, she looked at Sherese, whose eyes were tightly closed.
Not knowing what the situation was, she quickly asked her men to help the two of them out of the dungeon.
The woman who was addressed as "Ms. Savatier" glared at Camille with a sullen expression. "You should know that my sister is the one who’s brought all the honor that laid the foundation for what the Moreaus have today. Aren’t you afraid of karma, choosing to treat me this way?"
Camille lowered her head and did not utter a single word. Ms. Savatier left the dungeon straight away, leaving Sherese, who was completely unconscious, in the prison.
"Bring Sherese to my room and find her the best doctor. Make sure to treat her. I want to see her back at her peak."
"Yes, ma’am!"
