Chapter 1118
The effect that Hesper wanted had been achieved, but she knew she could not control the development of the situation ahead. There was a high probability that Ranfik would still choose Camille as his wife, and what would happen after that depended solely on what Ranfik had in mind.
Just as the hall calmed down, Ranfik and Sharmila finally came downstairs together.
As if he did not know what had just happened, Ranfik looked composed as usual. Sharmila, on the other hand, with a solemn expression searched among the crowd for Hesper, the only person who could defeat her in so many years.
Although she had been ordered by the patriarch of the family to come and witness as Ranfik chose his wife, Sharmila felt that Ranfik had his own ideas, and that was certainly not something that she could interfere with.
As long as he could find himself a wife according to the patriarch’s wishes before they went back home that day, the event would be considered a success.
Hence, Sharmila searched for Hesper in the crowd with peace of mind. When she finally caught sight of Hesper sitting obediently in the corner, she could not believe her eyes. The person in front of her eyes looked so different from the one she remembered.
‘What a dazzling beauty. I’ve seen such radiant glamor in very few people.’
Hesper was a little surprised to meet Sharmila’s gaze, but unlike Ranfik, although Sharmila’s expression was cold too, her eyes looked so clear that anyone would be able to see every single gleam of emotion that flashed across the depth of her eyes clearly.
Her eyes looked like two crystal balls that were free from any impurities.
Sharmila’s indifference was more like a superficial armor that she put on to protect herself, but there was no doubt that she and Ranfik were very close. Otherwise, Ranfik would not turn Delphine’s life into a literal hell on Earth for Sharmila's sake.
Speaking of, it was indeed a little strange. After all, it was hard to imagine that someone like Ranfik would have such a deep bond with anyone.
Lowering her gaze subconsciously, Hesper heard Ranfik’s voice come from above her head. "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much for coming today, but I’ve already made up my mind."
Finding it hard to believe, Hesper frowned and raised her head, wondering what Ranfik was up to. She saw Ranfik shift his gaze from left to right and give off a brief smile when he met her gaze.
Hesper’s heart skipped a beat. Then Ranfik’s gaze instantly drifted away and stopped on Camille, who was standing beside her.
"It's Ms. Moreau from the Savatiers."
Many discussions erupted in the crowd, but Ranfik completely ignored those voices. He walked over, took Camille’s hand under Hesper’s furrowed brows, and returned to the stage with her. "Ms. Moreau, will you be with me?"
Knowing that the Savatiers and the Mustafas were currently in conflict, many people stared at Camille, feeling rather perplexed. Camille inwardly let off a sigh, knowing that she would eventually arrive at this junction. She nodded. "Yes, I'd love to."
Before Sharmila could recover from the trance caused by the sudden turn of events, the candidate for her sister-in-law had already been decided. She could not help but give off a trace of surprise through her eyes. She did not know when Ranfik, the man who was widely known as a cold-blooded monster, had fallen for someone.
But Camille looked elegant and pretty; she seemed to be a perfect match for Ranfik as she stood by his side. Hence, Sharmila did not overthink it. Anyway, she was only asked to be there to watch as Ranfik brought a woman back to be his wife. She had no right to interfere with the selection.
Hesper felt a great sense of confusion. The expression that Ranfik cast toward her just before made her feel as if he was targeting her specifically.
‘Does Ranfik already know that this was our plan?’
