Xander frequently exchanged glances with Mina as he spoke. He wanted her to persuade Samantha to accept his gift. Mina naturally understood the meaning behind his glances. She said, "You should just accept Xander's gift since you've just passed the preliminary round today—it's a joyful occasion after all. You can always return the favor when you win the championship in the competition." Mina knew that Samantha didn't like owing favors to others. If Mina worded the gift that way, she was more likely to accept it. As expected, Samantha reached for the gift box after moments of hesitation. She then placed it into her handbag. "Thank you, Xander." Samantha smiled sincerely at Xander before thanking him politely. Xander casted a grateful look at Mina, having finally accomplished his agenda for the day. He then bid his goodbyes, "I'll take my leave then, Ms. Goldsmith and Samantha." He then got into his car without turning back and left. Mina soon unlocked her car with her car keys.
