Xander loosened his hold on Samantha. He curiously took the envelope and waved it in front of her, asking, "What's this?" Finally free, Samantha stepped back a few paces to distance herself from him, explaining, "It's an invitation from the Lynch family. Today is Joseph and Selena's engagement party. I don't understand why they would invite me as I'm Joseph's ex-wife." Xander furrowed his brows in surprise when he heard that. "I've heard that Ms. Nanson had someone she loved deeply in her youth. However, the Nanson family didn't approve of their relationship and repeatedly tried to keep them apart. "He had a special occupation, and perhaps due to the Nanson family's interference or an unfortunate accident, he died in the line of duty. Among his belongings was apparently a ring he had prepared to propose to Selena with." Listening to Xander, Samantha sighed heavily, feeling a surge of sympathy for Selena. "Losing the person she loved most must have been incredibly hard for her."
