Chapter 24

Up ahead was the halfway point on the mountain, packed with people and parked cars. Dominic just took one glance and instantly got it-these folks were probably all part of the same street racing gang following behind them. Those racers had finally squeezed past a few cars and were just about to celebrate when they saw Dominic pull over like he had no intention of moving again. "Out! Let's go!" The driver of the Maybach Viper threw open his car door. A guy in his twenties with a buzz cut jumped out first. Not far behind, the other four cars came to a stop, and their drivers quickly got out too. "Since you've parked here, how about stepping out and giving us a race?" the guy leading the group strode over to Dominic, stopping at the front of his car and calling out to the two people inside. Dominic turned his head slightly toward Louise and asked in a calm tone, "Wanna give it a shot?" Louise smiled as her eyes scanned the eager crowd outside. Her still-hoarse voice carried a teasing lilt
