Dominic Ellis never expected the first words out of Louise Bennett’s mouth after waking up would be, “Leave.” His chest tightened, but he forced a smile. “Hey, what’s going on?” Louise didn’t even glance at him. Her voice was cold. “I think we need some time apart. Maybe then we’ll figure out if we’re even right for each other… and who we really care about deep down.” Dominic’s smile started to falter. He gently squeezed her hand. “I know you’re furious right now, but please don’t push me away like this, okay? You know I only love you. I could never have feelings for anyone else.” Her heart was a mess too. Even though Dominic kept saying he loved her, she couldn't find it in herself to believe him completely. Maybe, she couldn’t even be sure of her own feelings anymore. Did he love her just because she was his wife? But weren’t they married through a setup anyway? Her mind was all over the place.
