Chapter 99 Silent Treatment
Throughout the whole night, Serena barely acknowledged Harrison.
Feeling confused and neglected, Harrison sat alone in the study, cigar smoke curling around him. His dark eyes seemed to blend into the night as he sat there, deep in thought. But no matter how hard he wracked his mind, he could not figure out what he had done to upset Serena.
He even called Joe, but Joe told him that Serena had been perfectly normal all day, showing no signs of anything unusual.
His answer only deepened Harrison's confusion. Serena had been fine when she left in the morning. Why was she acting like a different person now?
As the last wisp of smoke faded away, he stubbed out the cigar in the ashtray. He got up, stepped out of the study, and let the lingering scent of tobacco dissipate from his clothes before heading upstairs.
The moon hung high in the night sky, its silvery glow casting scattered shadows on the ground.
