Chapter 141: Is the Child His?

"What's wrong, dear? Why aren't we going in?" Bella asked, noticing Wesley's hesitation. She followed his gaze into the restaurant and spotted Elaine. "Oh, Nora? What a coincidence, bumping into her again! We must have fate. I'm going to say hello to her," Bella said, taking Wesley's hand and heading inside. This time, Elaine saw Wesley and Bella holding hands. Beautiful, but painful. "Nora! What a surprise to see you again," Bella stood beside Elaine's table, holding Wesley's hand. Elaine hesitated for a moment, looking at Bella's radiant smile, then greeted her, "Yeah, what a coincidence. Are you two also here for dinner?" Charlotte, who was sitting beside Elaine, saw Wesley and Bella holding hands and incredulously shifted her gaze back to Elaine's face. She smiled and asked, "What's going on? My wife, aren't you going to introduce me to your friends?" When Wesley heard "my wife," his cold gaze shifted to Charlotte. Bella, genuinely happy, said, "So, Nora, you're married! Your husband is really handsome. I think you two are perfect together..." Mid-sentence, Bella felt her hand being squeezed hard. She turned to Wesley and saw his unhappy expression. Could it be because she praised another man, and he's jealous? Bella thought, feeling a hint of sweetness. Hearing Bella's compliments, Elaine became even more uneasy. She quickly introduced Charlotte, "These two are my clients. Miss Bella ordered a wedding dress from me." She then pointed at Wesley, "This gentleman is Miss Nora's fiancé." Hearing Elaine's introduction, Charlotte felt relieved. He smiled at Bella, "Thank you for your praise. You and your fiancé are truly a perfect match." Bella, hearing Charlotte's words, became even happier. But thinking that Wesley was jealous of her praise for Nora's fiancé made Bella hesitant to talk more with Charlotte. After a brief exchange, Bella prepared to take Wesley to their reserved table. Throughout the encounter, Wesley hadn't said a word. It wasn't until after Bella and Elaine said goodbye that he spoke up. "If you don't mind, shall we share a table?" Wesley looked at Elaine. "Huh?" Before Elaine could refuse, Bella was puzzled by Wesley's sudden request. "You're on a date with your fiancée. It wouldn't be appropriate for us to join you," Charlotte chuckled. Wesley looked at Elaine and said calmly, "I have some new ideas for dress designs I want to discuss with you. Is that convenient?" Bella tugged at Wesley's sleeve, whispering, "Wesley, it's their private time. Isn't this a bit inappropriate? How about next time?" Without replying, Wesley kept his eyes fixed on Elaine. Until Elaine met his gaze and calmly said, "Let's talk about your ideas next time. My husband and I want to enjoy our private time without being disturbed." As if not expecting Elaine to refuse so decisively, Wesley's eyes showed a hint of shock. Bella quickly apologized to Elaine, "Sorry for the inconvenience, Miss Nora. My fiancé didn't mean to disturb you. He's just straightforward, please don't mind." Elaine nodded and looked at Wesley, "Mr. Wesley, please be mindful of others' feelings in your words and actions." After saying that, Elaine ignored Wesley and started chatting with Charlotte. Charlotte cooperated with Elaine while provoking Wesley with his gaze. The more upset Wesley looked, the better Charlotte felt. It wasn't until Wesley left with Bella that Charlotte couldn't resist asking Elaine, "Are you completely done with this man now?" Elaine gave him a cold glance, unwilling to continue the conversation. Charlotte didn't mind and began to enjoy his meal contentedly. In the private room upstairs, the atmosphere was particularly strange. As usual, Bella recommended dishes to Wesley, but this time, Wesley didn't patiently listen to her explanations. When they finished their meal and went downstairs, the table where Elaine had been sitting was already cleaned up. Wesley pursed his lips, feeling uneasy. Did they go home together? Is Elaine's child really Charlotte's? What are they doing now? Wesley's mind was filled with countless questions, each one making him more uncomfortable. "Wesley, I don't want to go home tonight. Can I come to your place?" Bella said shyly as they reached the door. Wesley snapped out of his thoughts, politely declining her, "Before we get married, it's better for us not to live together. It's for your own good." Rejected, Bella felt a little sad, but Wesley's reason for rejecting her made her somewhat intrigued. What a gentleman. Afraid he can't give her a future, he's trying to protect her reputation. "Wesley, I'm not afraid. I can take responsibility for what I say and do." Bella invited again, "Or maybe, since my place is closer, would you like to come to my house?" She liked him and hoped he would become her man soon. She urgently wanted to see this man lose control in bed for her. "No need. After I drop you off, I have to go back to the office to handle some things." Wesley was a grown man; how could he not understand Bella's intentions? But he really didn't want to touch Bella right now. He felt like he would be betraying Elaine. Even though Elaine might be pregnant with someone else's child, even though he could only satisfy his physical needs with his own hands, he still didn't want to touch any woman other than Elaine.
