CHAPTER 251 AUTUMN MORNING

Kael spent the night beside Esme. He slept on his side of the bed, further away from her to give her space, but when he woke up, they were wrapped in each other’s arms. Esme was snuggled right next to him, her head on his chest as she slept soundly. Kael watched her sleeping face, the way her head rose and fell from his heartbeats. Just a few days ago, he had almost lost her, the agony of what would have been if she’d decided to leave him; he could not bear the thought of Esme not in his life. But how was he going to explain that he had dreams of those rainbow eyes again? Lilith had appeared in his dreams, and as usual, it was a cryptic dream, one he did not understand. Beside him, Esme stirred in her sleep, stretching her body before moving away to her side of the bed. A small sigh escaped her lips as she nestled herself into the bed. Kael watched her with contentment. He had never imagined a life without Esme because she had meant so much to him right from when they were pups.
