Kael asked with determination, “What must I do to overturn Fate?”
The seer’s green eyes narrowed with something that looked like anger then softened with pity at Kael’s question.
He was counting the moments, waiting for a response from her, but she didn’t answer.
Instead, she reached for a small bottle, like a vile, on one of the dusty shelves. Its transparent container glowed with the blue liquid swirling inside.
When she spoke, her gaze never left Kael’s “To overturn Fate.” Her voice began soft as a whisper: “Is to attempt to rewrite the very fabric of time, to challenge forces far older than you or me, forces that do not yield to mortal will?”
Kael was tired of hearing cryptic messages and seeing cryptic dreams; he just wanted it straight: “There must be a way. I refuse to believe I have no control over my own life after I have fought to get everything I have tooth and nail.
I won’t let some past life dictate my future.”
