Chapter 8-Alpha Cayden
Katelyn’s POV
I opened my eyes slowly, the ceiling above me unfamiliar. For a moment, I didn’t move. My body felt sore all over—especially my shoulder and neck. The air smelled faintly of food and disinfectant. Where was I?
“You’re awake,” a deep voice said nearby.
I turned my head, wincing slightly. A tall man was walking toward me from behind a counter. He looked to be in his late twenties or early thirties, broad-shouldered, with dark brown hair and sharp blue eyes. He wore a gray shirt rolled up at the sleeves and black jeans.
“I found you passed out near the woods,” he said, stopping beside the bed. “I didn’t know where you lived, so I brought you here.”
I struggled to sit up. My arms shook a little as I pushed myself up on the bed.
“Don’t push yourself too hard,” he said, stepping forward like he was ready to help if needed.
“Where... where am I?” I asked, my voice dry.
He nodded slightly. “You’re in the backroom of my restaurant.”
