CHAPTER FIFTY FIVE IGNIS FATUUS

JADE'S POV "Forget I asked," I murmur to no one in particular when he starts to advance towards me with a deliberate slowness like that of a panther about to pounce on its prey. I think of what to do or say to calm him down, but from the corner of my eye, I see the time, and to my surprise, it's almost midnight. I must've said or done something else serious enough to excite him because even when I call him by his name, he doesn't stop until he's right beside me. That gives me some strength because I roll away and head to the door, but the universe must still be against me because as I'm still trying to open the door, I feel him behind me, and then the lights are out. I slowly turn around and face him, but before I can say anything, he shushes me with a finger to my lips again, and I stare up at him.
