Chapter 39
At 7 p.m., Sebastian pulled up in front of the Wynthorpe Manor.
Just as his car came to a halt, one of Mr. Richards' attendants walked over with a grin, opening the door. "The old man's temper's flaring tonight. You better be ready and not throw oil on the fire, young master."
Sebastian climbed out, shutting the door with one hand before following him into the house.
Mr. Richards was waiting in the study.
The room reeked of old wood and incense. Candlelight flickered dimly. No sooner had Sebastian stepped in than the old man let out a cold chuckle. "Well, look who finally decided to show up-the master of romance himself. Should we roll out the red carpet for you?"
Sebastian didn't argue. He stood there, head lowered. "Sir."
Mr. Richards sat sipping tea, his sharp, aged eyes scanning over his grandson like a hawk. Then, turning to an aide, he ordered, "Bring the cane. Let's do this the old way."
Right after the words left his mouth, Mrs. Richards' cries rang out from outside the room.
