CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-ONE - ANCIENT TOME DISCOVERY
This proved to be Anna's greatest challenge. Despite her best efforts, she couldn't get the spark to catch. Frustration mounted as she watched Erik and Freya successfully start their fires.
"Steady hands, Anna," Arryk instructed. "Focus."
Anna took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. She struck the flint once more, and this time, a spark caught. Relief washed over her as the tiny flame grew.
But her relief was short-lived. A gust of wind caught the flame, causing it to leap onto the dry brush nearby. Within seconds, the small fire had become a rapidly spreading blaze.
"Fire!" Anna shouted, panic rising in her throat.
Erik and Freya rushed over, working quickly to smother the flames. Arryk barked orders, directing their efforts. After a tense few minutes, they managed to extinguish the fire, but not before it had consumed a significant portion of their supplies.
Anna stood back, mortified. "I'm so sorry," she said, her voice shaking. "I didn't mean to—"
