CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND THIRTY - ONE - THE CURSED CLEARING
Tears welled up in Elin's eyes. "You don't understand," she whispered. "I can't... I can't betray..."
"You're not betraying anyone by telling the truth," Anna said firmly. "The real betrayal is allowing this to continue, letting it tear the pack apart."
Something in Anna's words seemed to reach Elin. The young werewolf's resolve crumbled, and the truth came pouring out.
"It was Greta," Elin said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I saw Greta in the storage room that night. But she's been so kind to me, took me under her wing when I first joined the pack. I couldn't... I couldn't bring myself to accuse her."
Anna's mind raced. Greta, one of the most respected and long-standing members of the pack. It made a terrible kind of sense – she had the knowledge, the access, and the cunning to pull off such a long-term deception.
Thanking Elin for her honesty, Anna hurried to find Erik. Together, they formulated a plan to confront Greta with the evidence they had gathered.
