The moment Madison met Janet's worried gaze, the tears she had barely managed to hold back rushed out again.
"Hey, why are you crying again? I didn't even do anything to you!" Janet yelped, startled as she scrambled for tissues.
She shoved a wad into Madison's hands, still flustered. Madison whispered a thank-you, wiped her cheeks, and pushed herself upright on the bed.
She had just settled when Janet frowned. "Why are you here alone? Where's Mr. Goodwin?"
Madison's voice was hoarse from crying. "Sam's tied up with company matters. There was a caregiver, but I wanted some peace, so I let her rest."
But as soon as Madison finished, Janet instantly noticed something was off. She looked over quizzically. "You fought with Mr. Goodwin, didn't you?"
Madison hesitated for a moment, then shook her head. "No."
