There was something he wasn’t telling me.
I could feel it the way one feels a storm before the clouds gather…heavy, pressing, wrong.
“There’s something you’re not saying,” I said, my eyes fixed on the road as the streets of Manhattan blurred past us. “You’re hiding something from me, aren’t you?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Aiden replied casually.
From the corner of my eye, I watched him toss a pill into his mouth and wash it down with water, his jaw tightening as he swallowed.
