Chapter 49

Jayden's back was stiff and straight. Amelia couldn't tell how long he'd been kneeling there. Polly was right in front of him, trying to talk him out of it. But Jayden ignored her completely. In a determined voice, he said, "You don't have to say anything else." Polly's expression turned awkward. Just as she was about to continue persuading Jayden, she noticed Amelia, Sierra, and Lucy there. "Mrs. Brooks, Mrs. Stevans Senior…" When Polly caught sight of Amelia's face, her eyes widened in shock. Nevertheless, as expected of Tiana's personal housekeeper, she collected herself in a jiffy. In a courteous manner, she greeted, "Hello, Ms. Stevans." Amelia nodded slightly, once again directing her gaze at Jayden, who was on his knees. He'd shown up downstairs and given her the opportunity to clear her name. Yet, he'd left before she could even thank him. Much to her surprise, he'd actually come here. Jayden paid no mind to the trio. He simply stared at the bedroom within.
