CHAPTER 157: A STRONG OPPONENT
The dishes were served quickly and were all Victoria's favorites. Seeing the food, Victoria remembered past meals with Lady Eleanor.
"It's a pity, Lady Eleanor. We probably won't be able to dine together like this anymore," Victoria said, her voice tinged with regret.
"Why not?" Lady Eleanor's face still wore that gentle smile. She reached across the table to squeeze Victoria's hand. "Even though you're divorced from my son, we can still be friends, right? I never said I wanted to cut ties with you. Why can't we still have meals together? We did this even before you married Edmund."
Lady Eleanor's words dispelled the gloom in Victoria's heart. She was right. Lady Eleanor and Edmund were separate entities. Victoria's issue was with Edmund, not Lady Eleanor. Why should she sever ties with Lady Eleanor because of Edmund?
"You're right," Victoria said, her smile returning. "We can still be good friends, can't we?"
"We've always been good friends," Lady Eleanor replied, her eyes sparkl
