"Nathan, are you crazy?" Lillian's shrill voice pierced the air, as grating as fingernails on a chalkboard.
"If you let her go and she runs, who are we going to get the money from?"
I lowered my head and sneered. As expected, fools only played with fools. So much for the act—this mask was more of a burden than anything.
"But…" Nathan simply took off the mask. "She really looks like she's in a lot of pain."
Hearing that, I immediately started sobbing.
"It really hurts, Nathan. If you untie me, I promise I won't run."
"Let's go ask my mom for the money together, okay?"
"See? She said she won't run." Nathan pointed at me.
While Lillian glanced over, I quickly nodded, earnestly promising I wouldn't run.
"Miss, I really won't run. Without money, I can't buy anything. I won't even be able to survive."
