The lights in the house were on. Mason closed the door and undid two of his shirt buttons. Then, he walked to the bedroom. The bedroom lights were off. He tiptoed inside and turned on the small lamp by the bed. In that faint light, he saw Avery already asleep, lying slightly on her side. Seeing her, Mason's mouth curved into a smile. He leaned over and planted a light kiss on her cheek. Then, he took his clothes and went to the bathroom to shower. Not long after, he finished showering and was about to get into bed. Just then, his phone on the side started vibrating. Mason picked it up, and his expression changed a bit. He walked over to the window. Once the call connected, a woman's voice came through. "Mr. Stone, are you home now?" Hearing Janelle's voice, Mason glanced back at Avery on the bed, then took his phone and went to the study next door. As soon as he left, Avery opened her eyes. She had been sleeping lightly all night. The moment Mason came into the room, she'd actua
