“Thanks, Mrs. Harrington,” Denise said sincerely.
Margaret just gave her a gentle smile, then picked up her bag and walked away.
Denise stood there, still a bit stunned. She really didn’t expect someone like Margaret—elegant, graceful, totally upper-class—to be so kind to someone like her. So warm too.
Honestly, having a mom like that must feel amazing.
Her mind suddenly drifted to Jason—ugh, that cold and standoffish guy!
She’d paid close attention to Lewis at dinner today. He didn’t seem cold at all. His voice was calm and polite, full of grace. And Margaret? She'd been nothing but sweet to her. The couple really looked like they belonged together—they even had matching vibes.
But here’s the thing—how on earth did two warm, classy people end up with a son like Jason, who's basically made of stone? Perpetually unreadable. Not to mention emotionally constipated.
Maybe he's just... built weird?
Shaking her head, Denise dusted herself off and made her way back to the Montgomery house.
