I nestle contentedly against Karl’s side, our bare skin still ever so slightly damp from sweat as our breathing returns to normal. These moments alone together seem to pass cruelly fast lately, especially knowing that we’ll be apart for a week.
But I shove the gloomy thoughts away for now, reminding myself that it’s only a week—and focusing instead on the feeling of Karl’s sinewy muscles beneath my fingers. He sprinkles gentle kisses along my shoulder, warmth emanating from his breathless body.
“That was fantastic,” he murmurs. “You’re fantastic.”
I can’t help but smirk. “You say that every time.”
Karl pauses, his brown eyes meeting mine. “Shouldn’t I?” he asks. “I spent three years without your body. I’m going to worship you.”
His words make me blush, and instead of trying to come up with a response, I bury my face in his neck and let out a soft, contented sigh against his warm skin.
