When Sasha prepared to leave, I walked her to the door. “Good luck at the hospital. I’ll call you later after I’ve spoken with Austin.”
With a final wave, Sasha headed out the door, and I watched her drive away. I took a deep breath, feeling a mix of anticipation and anxiety about the day ahead. There was still so much to process, and the lingering questions about Austin and the attackers hung over me.
I headed to my office, trying to focus on the tasks at hand. The normalcy of work helped ground me, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to uncover. I needed to find answers and make sure that the events of the night were truly behind us.
