Before I could finish my train of thought, Ronald broke into a violent coughing fit.
I glanced over—his sharp features looked pale, his lips had lost all color, and he looked totally drained. He also shot me a quick look, then lowered his head and silently sipped the porridge with a spoon.
Guess he actually listened to Grace for once.
Grace turned to me, biting her lip. "I stayed behind because I wanted to apologize to you, Mrs. Wright. Now that I’ve said what I needed to, I should probably head back to campus."
"Mrs. Wright, Mr. Wright had a persistent high fever last night with multiple symptoms. I’m guessing it’s the flu. I already gave him antiviral meds and a fever reducer. His temperature should drop a bit today."
"But if he doesn’t get better soon, he’ll need further tests. We should definitely keep an eye on that cough—if it spreads to the lungs, it could turn into pneumonia. That’s a tough one, takes ages to recover from."
