"No way!" Lucas retorted, his voice rising. "It's Jake! He kept asking for you. Otherwise, do you think I'd come looking for you? I can't wait for the cooling-off period to be over! Between the two of us, you look more like the one who doesn't want a divorce, right?" Lucas listed a list of grievances. "You made sure my mom found out, then caused a scene at my company. Eva even got fired because of that. Miranda, in what way does it look like you want a divorce?" It turned out he was here to probe and get confirmation. "Don't worry," Miranda said with a calm gaze. "You're free now." "Good!" Lucas said with a laugh. He looked delighted as he kicked the bag at his feet. Miranda watched the bag sail through the air, feeling a pang of sorrow. That bag was quite expensive, after all. "You said it. Don't regret it later," he added. "I won't." With that, she turned and walked into her building. Once home, she tidied up a bit. Then, when she stood at the balcony and looked down, she fo
