Liv’s POV
I closed the door behind me, my fingers gripping the handle of the iPad that was resting on the desk in Kaelon’s office. It felt oddly light in my hand, as if I were carrying a piece of someone else’s life.
I could feel the weight of the day’s events bearing down on me, but I pushed it away as I walked down the long hallway. I wasn’t sure what I was feeling anymore—was it relief? Guilt? Confusion? Maybe all of them, swirling together in a strange concoction.
When I reached the elevator, I glanced at the time on my phone. I should’ve been out of here hours ago.
But somehow, I had allowed myself to get caught up in the moment, in the pull of Kaelon’s presence, in the electricity between us.
Shaking my head, I hit the button for the elevator. The soft ding sounded as the doors opened, and I stepped inside. The ride down felt endless, my mind replaying every little thing that had happened in Kaelon’s office.
The scent of him still lingered on my skin, and I couldn’t shake the fee
