CHAPTER 423: THE CHECKUP

"Oh dear, be strong. It would help if you had your mind this time," Natalie tried consoling Nelly. Nelly looked like a shadow of her former self. She rarely wore makeup, her body was gaunt and lean, and she wore a loose gown. She didn't bother with the right outfits anymore and looked much older than she was. When Nelly wanted to marry Brandon, Natalie saw how in love Nelly was. Though she had reservations, she didn't voice them, trusting that Nelly was mature enough to know what she wanted. Natalie stared at a picture of Hannah on the blue wall of Brandon and Nelly's apartment. Nelly wore a bright smile, holding her daughter in her arms, while Brandon's face bore a firm frown as though he had been forced to take the picture with his family. "Natalie, I'm finished. It's over for me, "Nelly sobbed, blowing her nose into a white handkerchief and stamping her bare feet on the tiles. Her eyes were red and sore from countless tears. Natalie moved closer, hugging her friend's slim body.
