It was just shy of 7:30 when they pulled up at the hotel. Julian put the car in park and looked over at Evelyn. "You head up first. I'll wait here for the Everett folks." Their relationship was still under wraps, and Julian didn't want them showing up together and stirring up unnecessary drama for her. Evelyn's hand paused on the car door handle. She turned, eyes on Julian's profile as she spoke softly, "Mr. Everett, are you seriously planning to send me up there alone?" Julian met her gaze. "I'll join you after I touch base with the Everett side." Her eyes flickered, and the next second, she stepped out, circled around the front of the car, and opened his door without saying a word. Standing there, framed by the soft car light, she leaned in slightly, tugging Julian's tie firmly, dragging him closer. She whispered by his ear, "I'm short one escort tonight, Mr. Everett. You sure you want me finding someone else to fill in?" Julian's eyes darkened, his stare locked on her like a magnet.
