Chapter 38 I Won’t Be Coming Here Again
Night had fallen, and the karaoke room shimmered with shifting lights. This was the last party Rosalie and her roommates would have before they graduated. The room reeked of beer, and the sorrow of parting hung heavily in the air.
Her roommates had burst into tears, holding onto the microphone, singing melancholy songs about everlasting friendship.
"Rosalie, will we ever meet again?"
"We're all from different parts of the country. It's impossible for us to gather like this again."
Rosalie's eyes were red. Instead of crying at the top of her lungs, she sat there as quiet tears slid down her cheeks. Raising her cup, she spoke in a hoarse voice.
"Look me up if you guys are ever in Claver. I'll show you guys around."
One of Rosalie's roommates wiped tears and said playfully, "You're taking over a big group company in the future. Ordinary folks like us will never be good enough to hang out with someone like you."
