Avril retired from the army in January, which was three months ago.
Now, as Mara glared at her with an intensity that could strangle, she exclaimed, “Three months? You’ve been engaged for three months, and you didn’t tell me? Not even a hint? I feel so betrayed!”
Avril, looking both apologetic and defensive, quickly explained, “I didn’t hide it on purpose, Mara. It’s just that I was so confused at the time. I didn’t agree to Perrin’s proposal right away.
