“So, why don’t we set the date for August?” I suggested impulsively. “We can combine it with my coronation ceremony—wear the crown in the day and a wedding dress at night. How perfect would that be?”
It was meant to be a lighthearted comment, something to break the monotony of the discussion. But I had underestimated my parents’ enthusiasm for all things grand and dramatic.
My mother gasped in delight, clutching her chest as if she had just been presented with the most romantic idea in history. “To be crowned heir under the sun and wed under the moonlight—oh, how magical!” she exclaimed, her cheeks flushed. “I can already picture myself seated in the front row!”
I turned to my father, hoping for some semblance of reason, but he merely gave a knowing nod, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, letting my mother run wild with her imagination.
