Scarlett
The sunlight filtering through the curtains was soft and golden, casting a hazy glow across the room. I stirred beneath the sheets, still tangled in the aftershocks of last night. My thoughts were anything but calm—Lucien’s words echoed in my ears, his touch still ghosting across my skin.
'Don’t let anyone touch you again, little wolf.'
My fingers drifted over the back of my hand, where his lips had been brushed. A ghost of a kiss that still burned in my skin.
Ack! Stop thinking about it, Scarlett Winter! For god’s sake!
I have no idea what he meant anymore. Was it possessiveness? A mere of heat? Got caught up in the atmosphere? I don’t know anymore!
I sighed and shook my head—away those thoughts.
I sat up and rubbed my temples, hoping a long shower would clear up the fog in my mind. The mansion was unusually quiet. I assumed everyone was still asleep from the banquet—or too hungover to care.
