It was a cold, snowy night. Although the weather was cold, I did not feel cold at all as I slept in Zachary’s arms all night. I woke up early the next morning. I wore some thick clothing and stuck a heat patch onto my abdomen before heading out. I pulled open the tent’s zip and changed into my boots. I was not the first to wake up early in the morning. It was Carl. He was washing something by a small river stream. I took out my toothpaste and toothbrush from the smaller tent where our supplies were. Then, I squatted down by the stream. When Carl saw me getting water directly from the stream, he told me in a low voice, “I boiled some water.” I touched the stream with my hand. It was so cold that my teeth trembled. “Thanks. I’ll boil more water after I use it.” I poured hot water from the flask and filled half the washing basin. Then, I went back to the stream and added some cold water into my mug. After I mixed the water, I squeezed the toothpaste tube and brushed my teeth. I was
