"Diana, I don't know what happened," Cassandra started. "But if it's about the design, you can talk to me. I'll help you sort it out."
The word "design" seemed to hit a nerve. Diana bit her lower lip, and her eyes reddened. "There's no need," she tersely said.
Just then, Peter called out, "Diana, come here for a moment."
Diana quickly stood up and walked toward him. As she passed Cassandra, she deliberately bumped into her. It wasn't hard, but it was certainly intentional.
Cassandra frowned, but before she could say anything, Diana had already reached Peter.
"What is it, Peter?" she asked, her tone dull and drained.
He gave her a sympathetic look and said, "Didn't I tell you before? Cassandra can't be trusted. She gave you hope, then left you with nothing—not even a single cent. Feels pretty lousy, doesn't it?"
