Caesar and Sylvia exchanged one final look before she moved to her position in the shadows, close enough to hear everything but out of William's immediate line of sight. They had agreed—Caesar would confront William first, while Sylvia observed and provided backup if needed.
William Blackwood emerged from his vehicle, his tall frame almost matching Caesar's height but leaner, with sharp features and calculating eyes. Once, they had been like brothers.
"Caesar," William called out, his voice echoing in the night. "I see your taste in meeting locations remains as dramatic as ever."
Caesar stepped forward into the moonlight. "William. I'm surprised you came alone."
"You have my sister," William replied coldly. "Did you expect me to bring an army?"
"I half expected it, yes." Caesar's tone was flat. "Where is Helena now? Safe, I hope."
William's eyes narrowed. "Stop playing games. You know very well where she is."
