Chapter 69 Would They Regret It
Leona's POV
The contraption resembled a carousel horse, but its tail and limbs were articulated. Two ring-like stirrups hung from its front legs, while its back was painted a garish scarlet. Its eyes, daubed in solid black, lent it the malevolent look of a monster from a mythology.
Eamon flipped a switch, and the horse's legs began a mechanical motion. As they moved, the back pitched and rolled in a violent, jarring rhythm.
What was more unsettling was its gaping mouth, which seemed to contain a small speaker. It emitted a simulated neigh sound that was shrill and grating.
Eamon stroked the horse's neck with a disturbing tenderness, as if it were a cherished relic. He murmured, his words hovering between addressing me and talking to himself.
"Oh, my precious. This is such a magnificent invention. Only fools fail to appreciate you. True nobility, those with real taste, understand its brilliance."
