A few seconds later, another text chimed in from Evelyn saying, ‘No’. ‘Had you seen if she took anything with her or brought anything back?’ Sending the next text, I started walking toward the pack house. On my way, I received her next reply. ‘Yes, she had left with a small bag—which she no longer had.’ I see… My grip tightened around my phone as I stared at the text. This particular answer confirmed my doubts perfectly. Indeed, Carmella is working for someone. But who? Who is making her do this, and why? What does that person want from us?
