Chapter 15

Tara didn't expect Eugene to forget something so important. That only made her more indignant on Nerissa's behalf and scornful of him. She said sarcastically, "You must have been pretty busy if you could forget about something so important. It happened on New Year's Day six years ago. It's bad enough that you didn't even thank Riss for what she did for you. I can't believe the way you've treated her!" The more Tara said, the angrier she got. She told Eugene about everything Nerissa had quietly done for him over the past 20 years, as well as how she'd saved him on the dangerous night six years ago. She even showed him photos of Nerissa being hospitalized after saving him. Eugene had no idea how he left Tara's apartment. His mind was in a mess, and he felt like his world had collapsed around him. Darkness shrouded him, and no light would ever be able to enter his world. He clearly remembered Cassandra being the one who had saved him six years ago. How could it actually be Nerissa?
