Employees in our company were busy preparing for the upcoming holidays, especially our department. We had to wrap up all ongoing projects and secure client approvals in advance, since most of them would be on vacation once the holidays began. Everything felt rushed, as if everyone was trying to finish an entire month’s worth of work before time suddenly stopped.
I went to Jennifer’s office to submit my resignation.
“I can’t approve this right now, Olivia,” Jennifer said calmly. “With the holidays coming up and so much to wrap up—especially with your major accounts—we need to ensure a proper transition. Let’s revisit your resignation after the New Year.”
I nodded. I understood what she meant, and honestly, I had already expected that my resignation wouldn’t be formally processed until after the New Year. Submitting it now was more about managing expectations—especially for when I eventually had to face Matthew and explain my decision.
