Cameron had called several times that day, but Teresa refused to answer. At first, she hung up on him; later, she simply switched her phone to silent. Her mood lifted once she stopped seeing his name flash across the screen. While she was splashing in the stream, Gary appeared. The two of them enjoyed the water together until around 8:00 pm. Just as they were about to leave, Gary suddenly stepped on something. The water beneath his feet turned red. Teresa asked worriedly, "What happened?" Gary laughed. "I probably stepped on a shard of glass." Since he was grinning despite the injury, Teresa held back her concern. "Come to the hospital with me. I'll help you take care of it." Both of them were doctors, and they knew the wound could become serious. A tetanus shot was necessary. Gary didn't object. Once the injury was treated at the hospital, Teresa invited Gary to her place so she could cook for him. The town was small and had limited food options, so she had to prepare what
