One of the burly men looked toward Yvonne with a glint in his eyes. "So, are you going to pay off his debt?" he asked. Yvonne let out a bitter laugh. Strangely, she didn't feel any strong emotions at all at that moment. Maybe this was what it felt like to be thoroughly disappointed. Instead of answering the question directly, she asked, "How did he end up owing you money? And how much?" "This punk racked up over a million in gambling debt five years ago, then he ran off overseas. Now that he's back, the idiot started gambling again, and we caught him red-handed." Yvonne stared at Louie in disbelief. "You told me you went abroad five years ago for medical treatment." Louie stammered, unable to come up with an explanation. One of the thugs snapped, "I don't care about any of that. If you're his girlfriend, pay up." "I'm not his girlfriend," Yvonne calmly replied. "We have nothing to do with each other. My boyfriend's name is Nathaniel." "You're not his girlfriend, you say? Why a
