CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY TWO – JUST LIKE OLD TIMES
As Nancy bent to check the oven, Rebecca's elbow caught the edge of the sauce pan, sending a wave of tomato sauce cascading onto the floor.
"Oh no!" Rebecca cried, grabbing for a towel. "I'm so sorry, Nancy!"
Nancy stared at the red puddle spreading across her pristine kitchen floor. For a moment, Rebecca feared she'd ruined everything. Then, to her surprise, Nancy burst into laughter.
"Some things never change, do they?" Nancy gasped between giggles.
Rebecca joined in, relief washing over her. "Nope. Still a walking disaster."
Their laughter drew Leonard to the kitchen. He stood in the doorway, taking in the scene with a mixture of confusion and amusement.
"Do I want to know?" he asked, eyeing the sauce-covered floor.
Nancy wiped tears from her eyes. "Just Rebecca being Rebecca. Can you grab the mop, honey?"
As Leonard left to fetch cleaning supplies, Rebecca caught Nancy's eye. "I really am sorry about the mess."
