CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY ONE – ANOTHER DISTURBANCE
The early morning sun cast long shadows across the streets of Tarrytown as Nia Moreno stepped out of her apartment building. The air was crisp, carrying the scent of freshly cut grass and the faint aroma of coffee from a nearby café. She adjusted her bag on her shoulder, taking a deep breath to center herself before the workday ahead.
As she reached the curb, Nia raised her hand to hail a taxi. A yellow cab pulled up moments later, and she slid into the back seat.
"Rivertown Media, please," Nia said, settling in for the ride.
The driver, a middle-aged man with salt-and-pepper hair and a well-worn Yankees cap, nodded and merged into traffic. They rode in silence for a few minutes before the driver cleared his throat.
"So, you work at Rivertown Media?" he asked, his eyes meeting Nia's in the rearview mirror.
Nia nodded. "Yes, I'm a Marketing Assistant there."
The driver chuckled. "Fancy title. Bet you deal with all sorts of interesting people."
