‘Hello, Amiyah,’ Tristan said. ‘You are looking good.’
I smiled at him. ‘Right back at ya. Love the tie.’
‘Thanks.’ He sniffed the air. ‘What smells so good?’
‘Pumpkin rice porridge,’ Kieran said. ‘You want some?’
‘Sounds…vegetarian. No, thanks. I need meat to keep my energy up. I’m ordering a tenderloin steak. Amiyah, would you like something from the restaurant?’
‘I’m good, thanks. I ate before coming.’
Tristan dropped himself into an armchair and tapped away on his phone. ‘How’s the pregnancy going?’
‘Good,’ I said. ‘The baby’s getting bigger by the day.’
‘I can’t wait to see him.’
‘Her.’ Kieran corrected him.
‘You know it’s a girl? Did you guys do a test to find out the sex of the baby?’
‘No. We just wish it’s a girl.’
‘I see.’ Tristan nodded. ‘Either way, I call dibs on being the baby’s godfather.’
‘You can’t,’ Kieran said. ‘You are my nephew. It’s confusing.’
Tristan shrugged. ‘Fine. I’ll settle for being the baby’s favourite cousin, then.’
