The oothing lapping of the waves at the shore and the comforting silence between Olivia and Mark filled the air. They were seated on a weather-beaten wooden bench side by side, gazing at the shore where the sun had dyed the sky with colors of lively orange and pink. A salty breeze swept over both of them, accompanying sentiments of untold words and the possibility that never came.
Mark drummed his fingers on his knee in a fitful rhythm, betraying nerves that Olivia had rarely seen. She put her hand over his, gently stilling the movement.
