Helen acted as if she hadn't heard Julien. He walked over and hesitated for a few seconds before reaching out to gently touch her hair. She still didn't respond. For a split second, he felt the urge to pull her into his arms and kiss her like he used to. Yet, he knew he no longer deserved to be intimate with her. In truth, when he approached her, Helen's body instinctively tensed. Even so, she didn't avoid him. Her voice was hoarse as she asked, "You feel proud of yourself, don't you?" Julien's hand froze midway, unsure whether her words had stung him or if it was something else. His pupils contracted, and his throat tightened so much he couldn't speak at all. After all, he couldn't deny it—deep down, he was dark and twisted. He knew she was ten years younger than him, and she was an open book regarding life experiences. Hence, he took advantage of his age and his experience in relationships. He taught her how to "love" and how to sin, molding her into someone as broken as him.
