Callie tilted her head back, snatching the cigarette Nelson had been half-smoking. She took a deep drag, the haze in her mind clearing slightly.
“Are you still unwell?” Nelson followed her movements, his thumb lightly grazing the tattoo on her waist.
Callie glared at him. “What do you think?”
She felt like a fool. How could she have thought Nelson wasn’t in good health? His body… Forget it, it wasn’t worth mentioning.
She pushed out of Nelson’s embrace, picked up the shirt he had dropped on the floor, and slipped it on. Barefoot, she walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, staring blankly at the view outside.
